In case you’re not familiar with One Book, One School (OBOS), every year we pick a fun book that everyone in the building will read at the same time – that includes every single one of our amazing staff members (teachers, paras, administrators and even some bus drivers) as well as every awesome student.
We read specific chapters each week for a 4-6 week period. Families are encouraged to read too! We have weekly activities designed to stimulate discussions around school – not only between students, but also between staff and students. It is a great community-builder!
We generally end the program with a culminating activity at the end.
Every year, the Oxford PTO has generously purchased the books for us - so be sure to thank them!
Here are the books we've done in the past:
2012: The World According to Humphrey (Birney)
2013: My Life as a Stuntboy (Tashjian)
2014: Pie (Weeks)
2015: The One and Only Ivan (Applegate)
2016: The Thing About Georgie (Graff)
